On top of the hill at the Jain pilgrimage site of Sravanabelagola we had a wonderful view over the town and the dry, dusty Deccan plateau.

We had arrived in the midday heat and scalded our feet as we climbed barefoot up the hill to see the statue of Lord Bahubali. Sitting in the shade we watched a constant stream of pilgrims come and go as we waited for the shadows to reach the hill staircase.
