After long searching we finally found a rancher whom we could ask for road directions.  The rancher’s parents were originally from the Dutch province of Utrecht, but he had never been to Holland.

After we told him about the Dutch landscape and its growing population the rancher said, "The Uncompahgre plateau has also really changed over the last couple of years.  It's become so crowded with people and traffic that I'm considering moving elsewhere."
