MARLOTH PARK, near KRUGER NATIONAL PARK !!

South Africa is not for nothing often determine as 'The world in a country': The impressive wildlife parks, far stretched wine areas, interesting cities and leave shores offer many of possibilities. Little disembark know moreover such varied animals - and plant life. And of course contribute also the particularly pleasant climate, the smeltkroes of different cultures and an excellent kitchen up to that more and more people leave to this fascinating country.

Marloth Park is a game reserve/holiday township in the middle of the bushveld 
bordering Kruger National Park, which is the largest wildlife sanctuary and one of the most important highlights of South Africa. The
Crocodile River forms the natural boundary between Marloth Park and Kruger National Park. The river is full of hippo and crocodile and boasts an abundance of birds and other wildlife on its banks. Imagine yourselves dining on the veranda or the balcony of our house, whilst being visited by a family of warthogs. Or waking up, finding a herd of zebra or giraffe drinking from one of the waterholes in the garden.

 

      

Our holiday house is in Marloth Park. Marloth Park is situated in the Mpumalanga province along the N4, some 90 km east of the capital Nelspruit. At driving distance from Swaziland, Burke’s Luck Potholes, Blyde River Canyon, the Three Rondavels, the small Dragon Mountains and Hluhluwe & Umfolozi National Park. Some 25 km to the east, through the village of Komatipoort, you will find the Kruger National Park entrance-gate Crocodile Bridge Gate.

And some 45 km to the west you will reach Malelane Gate, which is another entrance-gate to Kruger National Park and situated in the vicinity of the small town of Malelane.  http://krugerpark.com 

Marloth Park
  covers 1.548 hectares. It comprises of 4.458 privately owned plots, each with a minimum size of 1,600 m2. Houses are built on a mere 15% of the plots, which makes it a very tranquil township. Marloth Park has two more or less guarded entrance-gates.        

In your own bush-garden, you may spot zebra, giraffe, kudu, wildebeast, warthog, impala, waterbok etc. regularly. Marloth Park applies strict rules; nature comes first. Only indigenous plants, trees and animals are allowed. As you may come across all sorts of wild animals, some of them dangerous, sensible behaviour on the roads, as well as on your own premises, should reflect your awareness of this fact. Although Marloth Park itself is fenced all-round, no fences have been put-on between the plots, as animals must not be limited in their movements. Under all circumstances, wildlife has priority over any other traffic!

                                     No pets are allowed in Marloth Park.

The distance between Marloth Park  and Johannesburg and Pretoria is approximately 450 km. A nice highway connects the two. Car rental companies have offices at Johannesburg airport and you can reserve a rental through the internet. If you don’t like driving the distance, you can book a domestic flight from Johannesburg to Nelspruit, the capital of Mpumalanga. Most major car-rental-companies are also represented at Nelspruit, from which it is a mere 90 km drive to our rent house in Marloth Park.

Marloth Park boasts a secluded recreational area and its own wildlife sanctuary that may be visited for a small entrance fee. (ZAR40). There is a tennis(hard)court -bring rackets and balls-, a swimming pool, changing rooms, toilets, bbq-site and a volleyball net. It is also a perfect lookout point over the
Crocodile River and into Kruger National Park.

Marloth Park offers two supermarkets (also for souvenirs, stamps and pin payments), a liquor store, a petrol station, an information office, an ironware store, a security company’s office, several restaurants, a washingmachine area, a hairdressers and an ambulance service.

The house itself is situated at a distance of some 200m from the Crocodile River and Kruger National Park. While dusk descends, you at first spot and later hear the sounds hippo, buffalo, elephant, birdlife and many other species of wildlife that come down to the river to drink and in the case of the hippo leave the water to graze during the night. A unique experience, to be treasured forever. A paradise for bird enthusiasts!

The house is built on a plot measuring 1,980m2. It is suited for a maximum of 5 people. The house is made of brick, with a thatched roof that has built-in solar panels. But regular electricity is also available. Throughout the house and on the balcony and veranda (27m2 each) electrical fans have been installed on the ceilings plus there is
airconditioning since june 2007. For outside use, a plastic table and four chairs are available.
 

Lower floor: the open kitchen, with gas-heater, gas-stove and refrigerator, is fully equipped. Living and dining area (31m2) contain new furniture, 2 bedrooms of 12m2 each, are furnished with double beds and 2 bathrooms with toilet and shower. Clothing cupboards and store room have been built in.   

Upper floor: Open space with bed-couch for one person.  A catwalk leads to the balcony (27m2). There is a bush garden where beautiful indigenous trees grow,like the Marula and the Fever tree. A boma semi surrounds the BBQ-area.The garden has two waterholes for the animals. There is a bush shower for a nice cool-down. From the veranda you willbe able to see animals drinking. Double carport. The house has a burglar alarm and is monitored on a 24 hours basis by the field-security office in Marloth Park.

The house is a non-smoking area!


You may collect the keys from Roelie van Niekerk in Marloth Park. 
You will find that the beds are made, the gas-heater and the fridge turned-on and fresh 
towels at your disposal.

Final cleaning costs of € 30 are not included in the rent. You pay these cots in advance. Plus  € 5 p.p. per week if you rent our house more than 7 nights for bedlinnen. If you wish, Roelie van Niekerk will provide you with a basic set of groceries that will get you through your first evening and/or breakfast in MP. The costs are €10 plus the price of the groceries themselves. Also, you may find it useful if Roelie takes care of your washing for a friendly fee. These costs you pay in MP.
