Destinations
The most popular venues for cruises with megayachts and superyachts are the jet set ports and marinas of Hydra, Spetses, Mykonos, Santorini, Naxos and many other famous and beautiful islands in the Aegean Sea of Greece. Especially Santorini - which is often well out of reach for regular yacht due to its remote location - is a favoured destination. Sailing inside the flooded caldera plus a visit to the still active volcanic islands in the middle are well worth the extra mileage.
But close to Santorini there are several more treasures, notably Sifnos, Milos, Amorgos and Folegandros, which are all referred to as the gems of the Cyclades.
Further north - closer to Athens and the historic city states that once dominated the ancient times - you will find more temples and archaeological sites that are totally open to public.
Contrary to the Acropolis of Athens you can wander around and enjoy these impressive ruins up close and actually touch the 2000 yrs old remains. The best places are Olympus, Epidavros, Sounion, Mycenae and Navplion but there many other ancient Greek monuments to visit as well, notably around Kos, Rhodes and Patmos in the east. With a fast megayacht, both these beautiful cruising grounds are within reach.
The majority of these stunning sites are also ideal for dining and nightlife, you will find trendy bars and dancings along the waterside of the bay or port. Furthermore, you will usually be able to moor your superyacht or megayacht right in the middle this very boulevard, within 5 metres of the action !
The luxury and sizes of the Greek and Turkish megayachts and superyachts depend heavily on the available budgets, but all are much in demand and it is prudent to close the contract 9-12 months in advance.
