More input from Randy: a detailedtech note on shocks

From rkoopman Wed Jun 17 Randy has provided extensive documents on exhausts and conversion to 35 mm Carburettors that will get their own place on the site, but is also excellent material to distill parts of the FAQ from. Similarly, Richard has repeatedly updated the VIN, engine and chassis number register which is available upon request.
Finally a FAQ is in the making! Progress is tracked here until the first version is installed. From rkoopman Fri Apr 3 19:42:15 1998 Subject: Re: FAQ MORE VOLUNTEERS!!!! Here's an overview thus far. Mentioning all the subcategories makes chapters 3,4 and 5 seem very long which they shouldn't be. First we want a concise FAQ. Editors are free to store a lot of material for later use on the site. I think a lot of chapter three can be written using the magazine article on maintenance from the Web Site. With a bit of hunting for additional tips the chapter would be ready, so one editor should do, as for 1 and 2. For chapter 1 the editor will need help from at least 1 person per country, to contact the importer of each country to get figures on number of bikes imported. But that's a later worry: - First the editors, so we'll have addresses to send information to. - Then we'll try to find as many questions as possible and answers using the knowledge on the list (editors ask members to write small contributions etc.) - Then we all need to find bits of information to answer the questions and come up with more. - Then the integration/editing begins And finally we'll have a FAQ like any other self-respecting list! (most likely a large HTML page per chapter, maybe subpages for Ch 5) If 1 out of 5 members writes JUST 10 LINES, we have a FAQ of over half a thousand lines. But lets first get the list of information gatherers. WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS!!!! ANYONE can edit for example chapters 6 and 7. If you can read the name of a magazine or a supplier, can distinguish a street name from a phone number etc, then you can edit chapter 6 or 7. I suspect this includes all of us. MORE VOLUNTEERS!!!
