Dr. Niels W. Bokhove Back to Home Page Various experience, interests and offers I am interested in Franz Kafka's work, life and times ever since 1964. In the meantime I published a few books and a number of articles on him. I co-founded the Dutch Franz Kafka Circle in 1992 and am general editor of its quarterly Kafka-Katern (Dutch only!) (see also its Abstracts, in English). Summer 1992 I made a three weeks cycling-tour on Iceland with a friend of mine. It was the most fascinating trip I ever made! First from Reykjavik to the peninsula of Snæfellsnes (with the old vulcano Snæfellsjökull), then from Reykjavik via Geysir to Landmannalaugar and Eldgja, and from here, because of want of time, by bus via Kirkjubæjarklaustur - from here a bus trip to Lakagigar - back to Reykjavik. If anyone would like more information before doing something like that, then e-mail your questions to me. Some interesting Iceland links: Collection of Iceland links | Daily News from Iceland | Tourist Information | Lee P.'s Pictures | Ed. Jackson's Pictures Summer 1994 I made a three weeks cycling-tour on the Peloponnesos with my two sons (then 17 and 15). A combination of antique culture, beautiful landscapes and physical activity. The heat was not as bad as everybody expected, it was really great! First Athens, then by boat from Piraeus to Nea Epidavros (> theater in Epidavros), then via Nafplio (> Mycenae), Tripoli, Sparti, Githio, Areopoli, Kalamata, Pilos (> Nestor's Palace), Kiparissia to Olimpia. From here by train via Pirgos, Patra and Korinthos (> Akrokorinthos) back to Athens. If anyone would like more information before doing something like that, then e-mail your questions to me. As it may seem, I am not only interested in Franz Kafka, but also in the Polish author Witold Gombrowicz (1904-1969) and his work. So, if there is anybody on the Internet with the same interest, then let me know. Next autumn a Gombrowicz group maybe will start in the Netherlands, initiated by the Dutch promotor and translator of his work. |
