Introduction

Link to INQUA website This is the website of EQMal (European Quaternary Malacologists).
EQMal intends to unify people studying fossil molluscs (shells and snails) from European Ice Age deposits.

The aim of EQMal is to stimulate exchange of knowledge on European Quaternary malacology, including taxonomy, palaeoecology, stratigraphy, palaeogeography, dating, European correlations, and so on.

The group was established in 1994 in association with the SEQS (Subcommission on European Quaternary Stratigraphy) of INQUA.
A nice picture of the founders can be seen  here (They are slightly older now).

If you are an active contributor to the subject you are kindly invited to complete the membershipform.
Membership is free.

Quaternary malacologists are a minority in both Quaternary and Malacological societies and meetings. Therefore, members of EQMal are recommended to participate in meetings of SEQS to stress the importance of malacology and to attend international malacological meetings of Unitas Malacologia to show the relevance of the Ice Age for understanding present day molluscan biology, ecology, and distribution.
