Everardus Gerardus
(Everardo Gerardo) Joghems

On 29 September 1875 mary in Amsterdam Johannes Antonius Fredericus Joghems, born Amsterdam 24 September 1855 and Hendrika Margaretha Steenhuys, born Assen 12 January 1855. On 21 March 1876 their first child, a son, Everardus Gerardus is born at the address Lauriersgracht 571. Certain day the family moves to Dordrecht, where on 25 Februari 1880 a daughter Ida is born. Back in Amsterdam their last child Geertruida is born 15 Februari 1882. On 14 May 1883 Johannes dies, 27 years old, leaving Hendrica with three little children.

Hendrica remarries with Jan Jansen van Galen, born Roosendaal 5 April 1858 on 17 August 1885 in Amsterdam. Jan moves in with Hendrica at Eerste Lauriersdwarsstraat 19.
It is probably not easy to have a reasonable live so they decide to emigrate to Argentina, which like the USA was a popular coutry to go to in these days. On 13 Augustus 1889 they move. How they get there we do not know, but we meet them again in Uruguay in Fray Bentos where Jan Jansen van Galen is the owner of a beerbrewery.

Around 1923 this portret has been made.
