Col des Lis (Lits) (2458m)
De col des Lis is te bereiken vanaf de cabane de Matte, en vormt de doorgang van het dal van de Barrada naar het lac de Rabiet (2199m). Veel klauterwerk om uit het dal te komen, met slechts af en toe een verfstreep om de moed niet helemaal te verliezen. Op de IGN 1:25000 kaart (noodzaak!) zijn stukken van het pad nog ingetekend. De afdaling is listig: ga niet rechtstreeks naar het Lac de Rabiet want de helling wordt steeds steiler, maar traverseer naar het zadel voor het Lac de Couyela (nog net te zien in het midden van de foto). Niet eenvoudig wanneer er verse sneeuw is gevallen, Peter wist een linke valpartij nog net tot een goed eind te brengen!!!
The col des Lis can be reached from the cabane de Matte, and allows passage from the Barrada valley to the lac de Rabiet (2199m). Quite some scrambling is required to leave the valley, with an odd flash of paint to lure you higher up the mountain. On the IGN 1:25000 map (can't do without it!) traces of the path are still indicated. The descent is quite tricky: don't head directly for the Lac de Rabiet, because the slope becomes progressively steep and dangerous. Instead, make a travers to the saddle in front of Lac de Couyela (to be seen in the centre of the photo). Not easy when fresh snow has fallen, Peter only just managed to escape from a nasty fall!!!!
