The Wicker Man Movie Story - Synopsis. On a California highway, policeman Edward Malus stops a station wagon to return a little girl's lost doll. A runaway truck slams into the station wagon Moments later, igniting it into a wreck with the mother and child trapped inside. Edward fails to save them. After that he spends months of his life to get the image of their faces out of his head. Remake of the 1973 horror classic by Neil LaBute, (Nicolas Cage) stars as a sheriff investigating a young girl's disappearance from an island off the coast of Maine. As he goes deeper he discovers evidence of pagan rituals, he realizes there's something wrong with the local community.
