This is a sandy beach. It is hard to reach by car or by motorbike. The best thing to do is to go by boat. The boats are leaving from Pigadia. You have to bring along food and drinks because there is no possibility to buy anything over there.
This is a nice and rocky beach between the mountains. You can reach it by car, motorbike or by boat. The ride by car or by bike is not so hard. Just after a small part of road that is not paved there is a new asphalt road (1998).
In Kyra Panagia you will find a few houses and a taverna. It is possible to rent parasols and sun beds. Everything for a day at the beach is available.
It is possible to rent rooms. There are appartments and there is a hotel that was build in 1997 with restaurant and swimming pool.
This is a nice and rocky beach between the mountains. You can reach it by car or by motorbike. There is a tavern. This beach is not so crowded. It is a nice ride, watching the mountains and the nature. Parts of the road are not paved but the ride is not so difficult.
Just outside Pigadia there is a long sandy beach. Everything you need for a nice day at the beach you will find here. There are many hotels and taverna's close to this beach.
AMOPI
This is a very popular place. There are 3 sandy beaches you can choose from. Small Amopi, Big Amopi (that's the one on the picture) and Kastellia which is mainly used by nudes.
You can reach Big Amopi by bus (leaving from Pigadia), car or by motorbike. Everything you need for a nice day at the beach you will find here. You can rent parasols and sun beds. There are hotels, apartments, restaurants and there is a supermarket. It is very popular for people with children. You can walk into the water quite far before it becomes deep.
It is not far to walk from Big Amopi to Small Amopi. On small Amopi you will find everything you need for a nice day at the beach. There are restaurants and you can rent sun beds and parasols.
This is a sandy beach close to Arkasa. You can reach it by car or by motorbike. This beach is on the south side of the island. The water here is a couple of degrees lower then on the east side. The waves are bigger over here and it is fun to jump into them and play with them. There is a fast food restaurant and you can rent sun beds and parasols.
Finiki is a small fisherman’s village with a couple of fish restaurants. Close to the small harbour is a sandy beach. There are hardly any beach facilities but food and drinks are available in the restaurants who are no more then hundred meters away.
Just outside of Finiki, leaving the village driving to Piles, is a small sandy beach. There are no facilities.
Near this village you will find sandy beaches. You can reach them by bus, car or by motorbike. If you like to eat seafood, you can get it cheaper over here then on the rest of the island. If you go down here, make a stop at Pine Tree Restaurant it is a very nice place and the food is good and not expensive.
Driving towards the airport and on the left hand side is an excellent place for wind surfing. On the sandy beach are a couple of stands where you can rent surf equipment or to get lessons. This beach “Devils Bay” is famous for it’s wind. Close to this beach are surf hotels or apartment buildings.
On the right hand side of the airport, driving along the fences of it, you can find small and sandy beaches. There are no facilities but there are some good places if you would like to be on your own or to go picnicking with a couple of friends. But please do not litter.
