DayDreamer became chief of the tribe, because he was there "all the time" ,and because he had more responsibility than his older brother had. He has the ability to 'talk' with animals, not by signs or sending like most elves, but by adopting their language.
Apart from his lifemate and hunting his true love is his symbol-pouch; he goes nowhere without it.
DayDreamer suffers from a disease he calls "nostalgia", because it occurs every time he gets confronted by flashes of his youth, he was forgotten, and distinctive images of WindShaper. Every time he "finds" a piece back, though, he feels a bit less sick, although he suffers until the puzzle is solved. His brother Dagger didn't survive the same disease, because he underwent a massive backlash from the unwilling anti-healer NightStream.
